Proceeds to benefit local charity, ABCD

The spring issue of Sendik’s ‘Real Food’ Magazine went on sale this week at all 10 Sendik’s Food Markets. All proceeds from sales of this edition will benefit the local charity, ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis. On page 16, you’ll find information on how this worthwhile charity is supporting those battling breast cancer. There will also be opportunities to support ABCD throughout the next few months at Sendik’s, beginning with our annual chocolate hearts promotion for Valentine’s Day. The candy treats retail for $1 and all proceeds go directly to ABCD.

The focus of this issue’s content is on spring brunch events, like Easter and Mother’s Day. An 8-page brunch feature by Serena Bass — a James Beard Award winner for her cookbook, Serena, Food & Stories — has both tasty entree recipes and lighter options, like Green Peas with Mint. There is also a colorful feature on Super Soups, vegetable-packed soups that provide nutrients by the spoonful. It’s written by Marie Simmons, author of 18 cookbooks, and the photography by Luca Travoto of the deep purples, oranges and greens will have you reaching for the blender and soup kettle.
