Sendik’s helps fund Whitefish Bay pool renovation
$8,000 donation will be used for new scoreboard
With new safety regulations for water depth imposed by the National Federation of High Schools, the local Whitefish Bay boys and girls swim team have been limited to only one home meet each season. This prompted the school to undertake a $200,000 fundraising campaign to renovate the current pool facility. Sendik’s was happy to lend support to the effort by providing $8,000 to sponsor a new scoreboard. The entire renovation will improve the pool’s safety and return the traditional home pool advantage to the proud swimming teams at Whitefish Bay high school.
“We are proud to support the Whitefish Bay community in their effort to maintain high safety standards for our kids,” said Margaret Harris, who owns Sendik’s, along with brothers Ted, Patrick and Nick Balistreri. ”We hope that our contribution helps to maintain the amazing school spirit at Whitefish Bay High School and allow for the continued excellence of the swimming program.”
With donations from Sendik’s and others, the school was able to reach its $200,000 goal in just four weeks. A generous donor agreed to match the first $50,000 dollar for dollar, which doubled the donations from Sendik’s and additional contributors.
