Program enters fifth year benefiting Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin

The cute and cuddly Backpack Buddies are again on sale at Sendik’s Food Markets. The clip-on friends are available at 2/$10, with proceeds benefiting Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin. Proceeds will be used to fund backpack distribution to Milwaukee-area school children.

The backpacks, filled with school supplies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders, help get children excited about school at a young age so they don’t become clients of food pantries in the future. FOX6 will again partner with Feeding America and Sendik’s to help make customers aware of the month-long promotion.

“Backpack Buddies is a very fun and rewarding program for our associates and customers,” said Ted Balisteri, who co-owns Sendik’s with his brothers Nick and Patrick and sister Margaret Harris. “It’s neat to see the toys clipped onto the backpacks, bags and purses of our patrons. We’re humbled by their continuing support for our partners at Feeding America.”

Backpack Buddies will be sold exclusively at Sendik’s Food Markets from Friday, August 3 through Thursday, September 6. Look for Bugsy the ladybug, Puglsy the puppy, Sting the bumblebee, Spells the owl and all their friends at Balistreri owned and operated stores in Elm Grove, Franklin, Germantown, Grafton, Greenfield, Mequon, New Berlin, Wauwatosa, West Bend and Whitefish Bay.
