Enjoy Sendik’s All Week: Valentine’s Edition

In keeping with the pink and red theme I mentioned in yesterday’s Fan Mail, I’ve compiled a list of a few other dishes you might want to try between now and when the next ad comes out next Wednesday…all give a nod to my favorite color of all…the one I wear whenever I get the chance…the one I have approximately 12,000 versions of in the form of silver lipstick tubes…the color I HEART the most.  :-)  Happy Valentine’s Day.

Quick Chicken Pomodoro [1] — you’d do well with your pennies to make this on Tuesday when boneless chicken breasts are on sale for cheap, cheap, cheap.  Also look for sale DaVinci pasta and Kraft Grated Parmesan (nothing against the people at Kraft, I’m sure they’re lovely, but when given the chance I always opt for Sendik’s Grated Parmesan).

Roasted Tomato Soup with Parmesan Wafers [2] — okay, you got me; this one is really kind of orangey.  It’s so good though, and makes excellent use of the sale stem tomatoes.  I’m going to strongly recommend you use the Sendik’s Parmesan for the wafers, though.

Spicy Shrimp & Grits [3] — I’m putting this one out there because of my love for Southern cuisine.  Going to school in South Carolina and taking many, many beach vacations over the years has instilled in me a complete and utter fascination with shrimp and grits.  It’s red.  It’s delicious.  It’ll make you want to brew up a big batch of sweet tea and lay on your thickest southern accent while you say “awe bless your heart” to everyone you encounter.  I’m sorry to tell you that not many ingredients are on sale (well, scallions and Kraft Parmesan are) – but grits are cheap and you might already have a bag of shrimp in your freezer and a hunk of bacon in your fridge.  Give it a go.

Lastly, use the sale strawberries to whip up this delicious Strawberry Gelato [4] for your sweethearts!
