Enjoy Sendik’s All Week!
Here are three great recipes to help get you through a hot summer week and/or weekend. Two are fantastic main courses, either one is simple enough for a weeknight but certainly dressy enough for entertaining. The third is just for fun: an awesome blueberry sauce that’s delicious spooned over darned near anything.
I haven’t seen swordfish on sale in quite some time, and now that we have it on special this week, it’s the perfect time to make this Grilled Swordfish with Tomatoes and Capers. I cannot say enough about this recipe, it’s one of my favorite swordfish preparations and the sauce is fantastic – not complicated in the slightest, it comes together in a skinny minute, and it’s even sorta healthy. Fresh, Wild Caught Swordfish Steaks are on sale.
Here’s another thought: Frozen Alaskan Wild Cod Fillets are also on sale, and the sauce would be excellent here as well, but I’m not sure I’d grill the cod. I never have, anyway. If I was to use the cod, I’d thaw it, dry it very well, and season it with s & p. Then I’d sear it with some good olive oil in a hot, ovenproof pan on one side, and finish it in a 425 degree oven for a few minutes. That’s just me. Cook yours however you choose.

This Sliced Steak with Roasted Corn Salsa is a great summer meal and the perfect use for the Sendik’s Reserve Boneless Top Sirloin that’s on sale. Last time I made this dish, the whole DamFam basically flipped out and I hardly had enough for seconds – that’s quite an endorsement, wouldn’t you say? We like it with roasted potatoes or a simple rice pilaf. Give it a try.
Finally, because blueberries are on sale, I’m tossing out this simple but delicious Homemade Blueberry Sauce recipe. This is for anyone who’s at a loss over what to serve for dessert at any function this weekend. If you’re too exhausted from chasing your own punks around in this heat and can’t muster up the limited amount of energy required to make the Fruit Tart with White Chocolate Filling from earlier in the week, this one’s for you. Pour it over thick slices or pound (or angel food) cake from the bakery, or ladel it on scoops of vanilla bean ice cream (Edy’s and Blue Bunny Brands are on sale). It’s also excellent spooned over buttery pancakes for a breakfast treat.
Enjoy …. have a great weekend. : )
