PILOT PROJECT EXPANDS
A pilot effort that began June 4 at Sendik’s Germantown store has already recovered more than 7,600 pounds of compostable material, said Ted Balistreri, who co-owns Sendik’s with his brothers Nick and Patrick and sister Margaret Harris. The program is popular with employees and meshed seamlessly into store operations, he noted.
Promotion includes donation for each stolen base
Milwaukee, Wis. – Sendik’s Food Markets, home of the ‘Red Bag,’ will be making a $100 donation to the MACC Fund for each stolen bag by the Milwaukee Brewers this season. The family-owned grocer has partnered with the MACC Fund during recent holiday seasons to sell the MACC*Stars, among other holiday events, and this expansion of the partnership will help raise awareness for the charity throughout the year.
“The MACC Fund does fantastic work in our community fighting childhood cancer,” said Nick Balistreri, who owns Sendik’s, along with brothers Ted and Patrick, and sister, Margaret Harris. “We think this is a great, fun way to help support their mission and expand our partnership. We all love cheering on the Brewers. And of course, we’ll also now be cheering for even more stolen bases this season.”
Balistreri-owned-and-operated Sendik’s will be working with FOX Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network to keep fans informed of the donation tally and increase visibility for the MACC Fund. Fans can also track the progress on Sendik’s website – sendiksmarket.com – and the FOX Sports Wisconsin website all season long.
“The MACC Fund is honored to be part of this great promotion with its friends from Sendik’s Food Markets,” said John Cary, executive director of the MACC Fund. “Teaming up with Sendik’s and the Brewers will raise important funds through the excitement of Brewers baseball while also increasing awareness for the research supported by the MACC Fund. Being part of the Sendik’s Food Markets ‘Red Bag for Charity’ means so much to the MACC Fund and the children it helps.”
